Marcus Kelsey
Commissioner

Marcus Kelsey is an Eastern Washington University alumnus with a passion for his community, underrepresented populations, and at risk youth. His passion for at risk youth and diversity in adult communities was sparked 15 years ago, where he worked in group homes for youth and adults with special needs, along with group homes for youth in the foster care system. Growing up in the foster care system himself, he has firsthand knowledge concerning foster youth as they transition out of foster care and the struggles to find housing. He is currently a Quality Assurance Manager at Breakthrough Inc., advocating for and providing services to youth in our community.  Marcus also enjoyed his time volunteering for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and Big Brothers Big Sisters. He hopes to bring awareness to his community about the need for accessible housing options for young adults transiting out of group homes and underrepresented adult communities. He joined the Spokane Housing Authority Board of Commissioners in February 2023.
