Home Yard Cottages is located in a neighborhood off of Northwest Boulevard in Spokane. Home Yard Cottages provide studio, 1, 2 and 3 bedroom affordable permanent supportive housing for homeless families and individuals in 24 individual ”cottage” homes, ranging in size from 475 square feet to 1000 square feet. Amenities include a community room, computer access and a playground.
Supportive services are also offered at Home Yard Cottages to help residents find and maintain stability and meet goals. Services are tailored for each individual household’s situation and individual goals.
Home Yard Cottages was constructed in 2018 by Transitions LIHTC LLC, using Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC). This $6.7 million project will provide affordable housing for at least 40 years. It was made possible thanks to the sponsors of the project, which include: Transitions, equity investor PNC Bank, Washington State Department of Commerce, City of Spokane, and Federal Home Loan Bank.
Tenancy at Home Yard Cottages is restricted to households meeting Washington State Housing Finance Commission definition of “homeless” and those with incomes at or below 50% of the Area Median Income. Rent varies and is based on household income.
