DESCRIPTION:The Spokane Housing Authority (SHA) will proceed with the application and plan for the Moving to Work (MTW) Demonstration Program enacted under the Omnibus Consolidated Rescissions and Appropriations Act of 1996 – Section 204 of the 1996 HUD Appropriations Act. \nOn January 7\, 2021\, the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced the opening of the Moving to Work Program and Application under the MTW Demonstration Program for Fiscal Year 2021: Cohort #4 – Landlord Incentives. \nMTW offers the SHA the opportunity to design and test innovative\, locally designed landlord incentives to participate in the Housing Choice Voucher program. MTW gives authorities and HUD flexibility to design and test approaches for providing and administering housing assistance in a more cost-effective way and allows housing authorities exceptions to certain Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) rules. SUMMARY:Notice of Waiting List Closure for the Project Based Voucher Program
DESCRIPTION:As of June 25\, 2021 at 5:00 pm\, the Spokane Housing Authority (SHA) will be closing the Project Based Voucher Program waiting list for the Pope Francis Haven apartments to all new applicants. SHA will continue to take applications received in the mail after June 25\, 2021 as long as they are post marked prior to\, or no later than\, 5pm on June 25\, 2021. \nSHA does not take this action lightly and recognizes the tremendous need for affordable housing in the Spokane area. In compliance with Federal code 24 CFR 982.206\, and as recommended by the Housing Choice Voucher Program Guidebook\, the SHA has determined that the wait for housing for new applicants has become unreasonable and has decided to close this waiting list until such time that the waiting time for available housing is no longer than 12-24 months from the time of application. \nThe full notice may be seen at this link.
