Steve
Cervantes, Executive Director - Steve has over 32 years
experience in the administration of a variety of housing and community
development and redevelopment endeavors and has been with NEWHS since
2006. Before NEWHS he served as the Director for the Human
Services Agency Office of Housing in San Mateo County, California for
five years, which included holding the positions of the Director of the
San Mateo County Housing Authority, and Director of the Housing and
Community Development and the Office of Homelessness. San Mateo
Housing Authority consists of 75 employees, 290 units of Public
Housing, and provides rental assistance to about 5000 families. Steve has also
served in the capacity of Community Development Director for the City
of Baldwin Park, California for three years in this position he served
as the Executive Director of the Redevelopment Agency and the Housing
Authority simultaneously, and the Director of Redevelopment in the City
of Azusa, California for four years. His experience and practical
knowledge are backed by a Master in Architecture and Master of City
Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His
proven track record, high professional standards, team building, and
management skills, NEWHS is successfully continuing its’ mission
of “Building communities in Northeast Washington by leading,
advocating, and partnering in the creation of livable
neighborhoods.”
